Country walk/hiking

Take a walk on the Circuit des Muets (the route of the Mutes). Discover the place du Joncquois, the church and chapel of Saint-Ghislain, and the Cross of the Mutes. On this cross there are some unreadable engravings. Legend tells that two mutes killed each other because they disagreed on the meaning of the engravings. In Erquennes you'll also find four remarkable trees: three Dutch linden trees as well as an English oak.

Place de Joncquois in Erquennes : start of this walk. Walk to the primary school situated slightly away from the square. Turn right, and follow the path. You'll walk past two turnstiles. The chapel: turn left, until you reach and S-shaped crossing. Take the path on your right. At the end of the road: right. Continue until you get to an asphalted road. Follow the road on the right until you get to a path running past a villa. Continue, you'll get to an intersection (Fache du Pré Becquet): turn left. Continue, until you reach "La Grosse Croix".
