A tram journey through time
The Vicinal Historic Tramway Discovery Centre, Lobbes-Thuin contains over 20 former SNCV (vicinal) tramcars. It houses a steam engine from 1888 and the oldest completely electric tramcar, built in Belgium in 1901.
The tramcars run through mountains and valleys on the Thuin-Lobbes line, which is the last Belgian metric SNCV railway line allowing electric, diesel and steam tramcars.
Museum opening periods
Open on Sundays and bank holidays from April to September.
Saturdays in July and August.
The museum is also open on reservation.
Visits take place with a multilingual guide (French, Dutch, English).
Trams can be put in circulation for group bookings outside normal operational periods, 365 days a year.
The weekend of the 15 August is the tram festival.
Heritage days in September.
