The Grand Moulin d'Arenberg is located in the heart of the village of Rebecq. A gem in the Walloon Brabant heritage crown, the Grand Moulin d'Arenberg is an unmissable cultural pole.

The Grand Moulin was already operative in the first half of the 15th century by millers and belonged to the Dukes of Arenberg towards 1607.

The Grand Moulin today includes an impressive machine-room, three floors for exhibitions and other cultural events. It also houses the village library, the Syndicat d'Initiative de Rebecq and the Porphyry Museum.

Discovering porphyry

Porphyry is a volcanic rock. It is extremely hard and was used to cobble the streets of Belgium.

The Quenast quarries which have extracted porphyry since the 18th century, form the largest open-air quarry in Europe

The Mill houses the permanent porphyry - stone extracted from the Quarry of Quenast - museum on the first floor and on the 3 spacious floors, there is an entire exhibition programme all year round up to the Christmas market (2nd weekend of December).
