Thudinie is a seductive region of the Hainaut, favourable to country walks along the particularly green and undulating Valley of the Sambre.

Thudinie stretches over the towns of Binche, Lobbes, Thuin, Merbes-le-Château and Ham-sur-Heure-Nalinnes, the village of Anderlues and Erquelinnes and Fontaine-l'Evêque.

This natural region is bursting with heritage to share with visitors. Examples are the impressive Cistercian ruins of Aulne Abbey, which are listed as a major Walloon heritage site and house the Brewery of 'Val de Sambre'.

Not forgetting the medieval town of Thuin, with its Belfry, a listed UNESCO World Heritage site, its ramparts and its Suspended Gardens, with their vegetable gardens and vines.

The list is never-ending... you can also discover Fosteau Castle, which dates back to the 14th century, the Saint-Ursmer de Lobbes Collegiate church which houses treasures such as Merovingian sarcophagi and several funeral stones from the 15th to the 18th centuries.

A short distance from Thuin, lies Ragnies, one of the Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia, where various fruits liqueurs, including the famous "Eau de Villéee", are concocted in Biercée Distillery.

If you thought that was it, Thudinie has even more surprises in store for you! Binche is the birthplace of the Gilles Carnival. The Gilles are famous the world over and have been on UNESCO's World Heritage list since 2003.

When you come to visit Binche, don't forget to visit its International Carnival and Mask Museum.

You should also take advantage of your visit to make a stop at the La Binchoise artisan brewery and taste their famous Binchoise Xo beer and enjoy a nice meal in the restaurant.
