The current Museum of Fine Arts in Tournai was built by genius Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta and inaugurated in 1928. It was specially created to house the very rich collections left by patron Henri Van Cutsem in 1904. The edifice is definitely worth a visit, as well as the radiant rooms around the central polygonal hall. Its collections give an interesting global approach to the history of paintings from the 15th century until today. Among its major pieces: the primitive artists (Campin, de le Pasture, Gossart and Bruegel), some masters of the 17th and 18th centuries such as Snyders, Rubens, Jordaens, Watteau and Piat-Sauvage and impressionists (Manet, Monet, Seurat, Van Gogh).
