Since 1975, the Royal Museum of Mariemont has exhibited rich collections gathered by its founder Raoul Waroqué.

Mariemont is, among other things:

  • A 45 hectares English style park,
  • the ruins of the palace of Charles de Lorraine,
  • the Bourgeois of Calais, of Rodin,
  • the world's finest Tournai porcelain collection,
  • hundreds of works from Egypt, Greece and Rome such as the monumental statue of Cleopatra (5 tons), frescos from the villa of Boscoréale (Pompeii) or the Arès Somzée,
  • the most complete collection of Chinese antiquities in Belgium,
  • a tea pavilion and numerous collections from Japan, Korea, Vietnam,
  • archaeological and historical collections, manuscripts and autographs, thousands of precious books and many other treasures...

Mariemont: The return of the mummy!

The coffin and the mummy of Hor are back in Hainaut!

This exceptional piece, a sarcophagus (stone coffin containing the dead body) dating back from the 7th century, is visible at the Mariemont Royal Museum.

Thanks for almost intact polychromy, you will be able to gaze at a face dating back to more than 2500 years ago.

daily except on Mondays that are not public holidays. Closed on 1 January and 25 December.
Park open daily at 8am from April to September, at 10am from October to March.

Closed at 5pm from November to March, at 6pm from April to October (7pm on Sundays and public holidays from May to August).

Guided visits on request for groups of maximum 20 persons.
Duration of the visit: 1 to 2 hours.

A multi-sensory approach to the museum, the collections and the exhibitions has been developed for visually and hearing-impaired visitors.

The Mariemont domain is partially accessible to mobility-impaired persons.

Temporary exhibitions: € 4 per person. Admission free on the first Sunday of the month.
