La Roche-en-Ardenne Feudal Castle
Rue du Vieux Château 4
6980 LA ROCHE-EN-ARDENNE
- MAPS: Google Maps
Perched on the Deister rocky spur, this site has been a Neolithic residence, a Roman settlement and the home of the Frankish Kings.
Overhanging the city and the River Ourthe, nestled at the heart of nature, it truly makes La Roche "The pearl of the Ardennes".
Despite the major changes undergone by the castle (excavations have brought new halls as well as 15th-century remains to the surface), the current ruins with their towers, arrow slits and oubliettes have retained the feel of feudal times.
Closed in case of snow and/or ice. Also closed 25/12, 01/01 and 09 - 10/03/13 (La Roche Carnival).
The ghost will appear from 6 July to 24 August every day unless there is rain and/or strong winds.
Medieval activities during the season.
Guided tours for groups only by reservation in FR & NL.
Information leaflet available at the entrance for €0.50.
During the summer: falconry and medieval entertainment.
A medieval fair will take place in the first weekend of August.
