In Charleroi, children can have as much fun as their parents! Discover the city together through its comic book characters, its museums and its UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Did you know that Charleroi is the Walloon comic book capital? Stroll around the city centre with your friends and you may bump into some comic book heroes, such as Spirou, Gaston Lagaffe, Lucky Luke, The Smurfs, Marsupilami or Boule and Bill.

And if you were under the impression that museums were just for adults, why not take a trip to one of the museums with your family? Your mind will soon change when you discover the Museum of Photography, the Fine Arts Museum, the Centre of Scientific Culture at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) or, and just a stone's throw from Charleroi, the Bois du Cazier, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fun for your children

  • Children from 3 to 6 years old will love the Fine Arts Museum, where they can have fun wandering around, discovering temporary exhibitions with their own personal notebook to read, colour in, draw in and tell stories from...

  • Children from 6 to 12 years old will love the Bois du Cazier, where they will become apprentice minors and will discover the mining world with "Le livret du Petit Mineur," full of quizzes, riddles, games and drawings.

  • To finish the visit, your little ones will be able to climb to the top of the slag heap to gaze at the panoramic view of the region.

  • Teenagers will love the Museum of Photography, where they can discover how cameras, framing and optical illusions work.

Next to this activity, the museum offers a game that alters with each new exhibition.

And, not forgetting the "Photographie Kézako" events, organised during school holidays, consisting of a visit and a workshop exclusively for children and their parents.
