The Manneken Pis Festival
The Order of the Friends of the Manneken-Pis, who protect the little man's traditions, stages a festival in his honour. In Brussels, 31/08/13!
The 28th Manneken Pis festival!... which isn't very many, really, when you think that this icon of Brussels tourism has clocked up more than 600 summers!
On this day, the Manneken-Pis will be dressed in his Order of Friends of the Manneken-Pis costume from 9am to 11am.
Musical ambiance guaranteed and procession from the Place Agora at 3pm!
10:30am: GATHERING in the Grand-Place - City Hall (inner court).
11am: START of the procession towards the Manneken Pis accompanied by the Meyboom brass band.
11:45am: ARRIVAL AT THE STATUE in his Order of the Friends of the Manneken Pis costume. Our little boy will offer beer in his own way, then "LUNCH IN TOWN" at the area's shops.
Entertainment from the Meyboom brass band.
2pm: GATHERING in the Place d'Espagne.
2:30pm: START of the procession towards the statue, via the Marché aux Herbes, Rue Taboa, Rue au Midi, Rue du Lombard and Rue de l'Etuve.
We will be accompanied by the Meyboom giants and brass band, the St Guidon and Notre-Dame de Grace procession, the regiment: Torpileurs and Marins and other brotherhoods and traditional groups from here and elsewhere.
3pm MANNEKEN PIS: hommage and salutation by the "Torpileurs&Marins" and our "ketje" (little boy) will offer beer in his own special way, accompanied by the Meyboom brass band.
5pm: Entertainment in the area by the STREET BAND until 10pm.
5pm: 26th chapter of the ORDER OF THE MANNEKEN PIS in the Salle de la Milice in the City Hall.
7:30pm: FRIENDSHIP BANQUET (bookings have closed) in the Salle de la Jeunesse (Place Sainte-Catherine)
This event takes place in the Manneken Pis quarter and the surrounding areas.
