Feel mystical ecstasy thanks to the precious canvas by this great Spanish baroque painter. Discover it in Brussels from 29/01 to 25/05/14.

View a chronological presentation of the work of painter Francisco de Zurbarán (1598-1664), from productions from his youth in Seville, to his final works completed in Madrid.

In parallel to this chronological approach, the major features that define the artist's work and his contribution to the history of Spanish baroque art will be examined.

He is, among the Spanish baroque painters, one of the most confirmed, thanks to the depth of his naturalism to which he adds poetic modernist strokes.

Zurbarán developed a way of expression that identifies itself with the artistic ideals of the baroque style and the new spirit that rose from the Council of Trent.

This spirit that penetrated all manner of Spanish art at the end of the 16th century and during the 17th century left an extremely productive artistic trace in the plastic arts, theatre, music and literature - the crucibles of a deep cultural renaissance.

Feel the ecstacy thanks to this Spanish baroque artist's precious canvases and enjoy a series of concerts that accompany the exhibition!

Eight dates will be held throughout the season.
