Christmas Market in Oupeye
1000 lights and as many aromas at Oupeye castle! Almost 40 craftsmen, producers, associations and brotherhoods in Oupeye, from 12 to 14/12/14.
This Christmas market will follow the rule as gifts and regional seasonal produce will be on offer all weekend.
You'll find everything you need for successful Christmas festivities: artisan crafts, gift ideas to put under the Christmas tree, decorations and toys, not forgetting a host of culinary delights to discover, buy and take home.
The added bonus of this market, is the range of activities on offer throughout the weekend: a visit from Father Christmas, a fireworks display and surprise entertainment.
Not to mention the venue itself, which adds a magical Christmas spirit to the event!
After all, the Lords of Oupeye, the Bishop-Princes of Liege and other noble families inherit it. The castle is magnificent and is the ideal setting for the event.
More than just a Christmas market, come and enjoy a trip back in time!
Legend of the castle: It is said that the castle once belonged to Alpaïde, Pepin of Herstal's concubine, and that she was present there on the day of Saint Lambert's murder. When the killers were finishing their crime, blood appeared in the window where Alpaïde was sitting at that moment. Restored from top to bottom in 1980, Oupeye castle is today an important cultural centre in the region. So why not make the most of the Christmas magic and visit the region?
