Discover the famous Lascaux cave in Dordogne, also known as the "Sistine Chapel of Prehistory". In Brussels from 14/11 to 15/03/15!

A spectacular reconstruction of the cave, the third of its type, will be set up in the main exhibition hall in the museum!

After having already been to Bordeaux, Chicago, Houston and Montreal, it makes its way to Brussels, which will be the only other European destination!

Its next stop will be Tokyo in 2016.

An absolute must-see!

You will venture into this life-size model of the palaeolithic cave in Lascaux and admire an identical reconstruction of 20,000 years of famous old cave paintings, among them are the oldest in the world.

The exhibition will not only showcase the majestic beauty of these parietal paintings, but will also focus on the cultural context, which has been behind their emergence.

It also deals with the cultural context that gave rise to them. Scientific content and visual experiences will, therefore, go hand in hand.

The discovery of the cave in 1940, its conservation and successive renovations will also be explained. Some thirty objects from the Museum and the Cinquantenaire Museum will be part of the exhibition.
