Museums in the city of Tournai

Tournai also stands out for its porcelain and tapestries.

Of the city's seven museums, a visit to the Museum of History and Decorative Arts is a must: it has a superb collection of porcelain, including the famous service commissioned by the Duke of Orléans in 1790.

Don't miss the Centre for Tapestry, Mural Arts and Fabric Arts, located in a former Neoclassical mansion, where the principal tapestries from 15th and 16th-century Tournai are exhibited along with contemporary creations.

The Museum of Fine Arts is also well worth a visit. There, you can discover a major collection of impressionist paintings, including the only two works by Edouard Manet in Belgium. What's more, the museum was designed in 1928 by the architect Victor Horta, the master of Art Nouveau.

And that's not all, because in Tournai you can visit many more museums specialising in a wide range of interesting subjects. Perfect for a visit on your own, in a group, or with your family:
