Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture

The city of Mons, cultural capital of Wallonia, has an impressive heritage. It has also been chosen as European Capital of Culture 2015.

Mons possesses numerous listed sites such as MONS BELFRY, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the CITY HALL or the SAINTE-WALTRUDE COLLEGIATE CHURCH TREASURE.

Every year, at the start of the summer, Mons and its Grand Place are the main stage for a remarkable folkloric event listed by UNESCO as Intangible Heritage: the DOUDOU.

Just a few kilometres outside the city centre, lies the superbly restored GRAND-HORNU industrial site also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This site houses the CONTEMPORARY ARTS MUSEUM, which houses remarkable temporary exhibitions.

Only 6km from Mons you'll find the Pass - Scientific Adventure Park, an original science museum to discover with the family.
