East Cantons, a selected destination
Located by the borders with the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg, the East Cantons are a little slice of paradise in the Ardennes. They stretch over an area of 1050 km² and have a population of 92.000 inhabitants.
Despite its relatively small size, the region is home to a stunning diversity of landscapes. In the North, the imposing farms and numerous castles dominate the landscape, while in the centre, the High Fens plateau, a one of its kind European bogland made up of 5000 ha of bogs and marshes.
The High Fens-Eifel Natural Park delight the most experienced nature lovers and are also the location for the highest point in Belgium, Botrange (694m).
In the South, you will find the lakes of Robertville and Butgenbach, ideal places for a spot of summer water sports or even nothing at all in particular. Even further south, the Our valley, a romantic valley known as the "pearl of the East Cantons".
This rich natural setting is the perfect place for numerous outdoor activities, with one of the most popular being walking and hiking.
